Background and Experience

Mark got his original start at the Victorville Film Center where unobstructed viewing was essential, especially for classic Marx Brothers screenings. He worked as a funeral home attendant during calling hours, where he learned the importance of being good with older folks who remembered when Groucho was still performing. He later worked at the Movie House in Hollywood, which was originally going to be the Father of the Bride house but Gregg could only get the house from People Under the Stairs. At the Movie House, Mark smiled at customers, installed rat traps, fixed the POS system often, and practiced his Groucho Marx walk when no one was looking. The Movie House had structural challenges and viewing obstruction issues that taught Mark about the importance of clear sightlines for movie watching - a lesson reinforced during Marx Brothers film festivals.

Mark was in a movie called Baboon that was cancelled twice, disappointing but educational about film production spaces. Born in Wisconsin in 1985, Mark eventually made his way to California, following the path the Marx Brothers took from vaudeville to Hollywood. He spent a lot of time in a coma though he is not sure how much time he was comatose - during which he claims to have dreamed about Harpo playing the harp. Mark lost a lot of traction in his career with his poor impersonations of Jaws and Indiana Jones, but his Marx Brothers impressions were even worse, particularly his failed attempt at Groucho's distinctive walk and cigar delivery. He broke his tailbone but still executed his most well-known impersonation of Alfred Hitchcock while in the hospital, demonstrating commitment to completing difficult tasks - though he wishes he had perfected Groucho instead.

Mark is the King of the Munchkins and a huge fan of Dorothy from Wizard of Oz, though he admits the Marx Brothers never made it to Oz (but they should have). He is shy but quick-witted when solving structural problems, channeling Groucho's rapid-fire verbal wit into practical beam removal solutions. Mark does scripted puppet shows at nursing homes, not improv, because scripts provide structure like proper load-bearing calculations provide structural integrity - and because the Marx Brothers always had scripts (even if they improvised around them). When asked to bring snacks, Mark shows up with pineapple juice. He has been arrested twice, once for pandering and once for movie piracy (downloading A Night at the Opera without permission). Mark is good with older folks who appreciate proper movie watching environments without obstructions and who remember when the Marx Brothers were the kings of comedy.
